6 Wedding Gown Silhouettes

The wedding gown silhouette is a major factor in choosing a dress. Styles range from the classic A-line, mermaid, ballgown to strapless and halter styles.

A strapless dress can be modified with a lace or satin cover-up if needed. A wedding dress can be any silhouette as long as it flatters your body type.

A-Line Gown

A-line wedding gowns are fitted at the top, flaring out from the waist. The A-line dress is flattering for any body type.

Mermaid Gown

The mermaid gown hugs the hips before flaring out. It gives off a curvy feel and an illusion of an hourglass figure.

Ballgown

The ballgown-style wedding dress flares out from the waist then tapers in at the knees, giving off a figure that looks fuller around the hips. This style gives you the Cinderella effect.

Sheath Dress

The sheath dress, is fitted in the waist and falls straight to the floor with a minimal flare. Another flattering option for hourglass figures.

Halter Neck

A halter neck is perfect for the bride dreaming of a backless wedding dress or a plunging backline.

Trumpet Dress

Similar to the mermaid silhouette, but is less fitted through the hips and gradually gets wider at the lower thigh. Ideal for creating and enhancing curves, no matter your body type.
